Why do HP Ink Cartridges Expire and is there anyway around it?

We have a nice HP all-in-one family of scan, print, etc. with something like 5 color cartridges. For home use, we don't print that much so it takes a while to run out of ink. Now we can't use the printer because the cartridges are expiring - not out of ink. That is really annoying! Why do HP Ink Cartridges Expire and is there anyway around it?
Hi

If you are printing only once in a Blue Moon, remover the cartdeige and put it in the plastic case that comes with the new HP cartdirge., or wrap it in saran wrap. When you are reaedy to use it, pop them back in. Just because it expires doesn.t mean its no good. i leave cartridges in for a year and they still work.

But, as stated, remove them and store them in a cool place and you will get good result and able to print till they run out :-)Why do HP Ink Cartridges Expire and is there anyway around it?
Some printers, HP included, say that printer cartridges 'may need to be changed/may be out of ink', etc before they actually are...this is both to prevent any surprises but also gets us to spend more money by buying another ink cartridge before we actually have to. I wait until the warning pops up, and if I anticipate doing a lot of printing soon, I'll buy another ink cartridge, but I don't put them in until the suckers actually run dry. It won't hurt the printer at all, you just get that annoying warning. And you can usually reset the 'warning' by taking the cartridge out and then putting it back in again.
Customer services solutions:

1. for continuous consumption.

2. for product control such as Government policies on product.

3. for efficiency. - you can invite the manufacturer to court over failure product sold to you, after no validity.

4. for profit making.

5. for satisfaction in services and delivery.

ok.
I've had that its a real pain. pass the date and printer refuses to print.

Easiest way is to set the date back a year on your PC, print your stuff, then bring the pc date back up to normal.
The ink dries up - but you can try the cartridge past the expiration date - it will either work or it won't. It won't hurt the printer.
