I use a HP inkjet printer. HP recommends not using ink refills as it will ruin the printer. Is this true?

I use my printer for my artwork and I need the prints to be a good quality. Will refilled cartridges hurt my printer? or is HP wanting to buy their expensive ink cartridges?I use a HP inkjet printer. HP recommends not using ink refills as it will ruin the printer. Is this true?
If you want to use your printer for your artwork and you are concerned about the quality of output then do NOT use refilled carts. Yes, a genuine HP cart will cost you more but you will never get the absolute best image from a refil -- for many reasons. 1, HP engineers their inks to work with that particular printer - a refill ink does not. 2, the ink cart itself (especially on most HPs) also contains the print head - use a refill and your reusing an old print head. And lastly point 3 ... see point 1 - yes, the inks really are engineered for each printer (or family of printers-- hence why there are so many different ink carts avail).

If you just want to do a rough draft - then fine, refill might be ok. But again, to ensure the absolute best - use genuine. I cannot tell you how many 'refills' or basically any non genuine ink/toner carts I have thrown out after only a few pages because the quality was horrible.

It really stinks that they cost more - but you will never go wrong w/ a genuine ink or toner cart from HP.

Also, if HP should discover you have used a refill cart in thier printer they will deny you any warranty service.I use a HP inkjet printer. HP recommends not using ink refills as it will ruin the printer. Is this true?
no they wont ruin your printer have been using refills for a year -

Yes HP want you to buy their ridiculous priced cartridges - fill her up !!!!!
If the cartridges are done right they will not.

IF the cartridge leaks it can damaged your hardware, however if you are concerned about leakage leave the cartridge overnight to settle. If it is not sitting in a pool of ink by morning it is fine.

I have never had an issue using refilled or compatible cartridges and have been doing so for years. My business in printers and I assure companies do employ scare tactics to ensure you purchase their overpriced consumables. I have never once in my many years heard of a properly refilled cartridge leaking or damaging a printer.
HP recommends that because refills have a tendancy to dry up. Refills are made with a different type of ink and most are not packaged correctly, because of this the ink clumps. You can't notice it if the cartridge is clear.

Sad but true, they do hold a point.
refilling of cartridges is a very risky thing to do because if you have a cheap ink, you might get your printer's nozzle clogged up but ink refills are very economical because first they come a lot less cheaper than the cartridge and it also makes the printer's cartridges recyclable. refilled cartridges also have a disadvantage because if you fill the cartridge too much, the ink will drip all over your paper and onto your printer's rollers. this is a very bad thing because the rollers will spread the ink all over the other sheets until it dies up. refilling your cartridge is up to you. just follow the instructions on how to refill and up to how many times to refill a certain cartridge and try to take care of your printer's nozzle by regularly cleaning it and performing maintenance tests to it. good luck!!!
That is not true unless you use low or questionable quality ink refill (ink which color subsiding/sinking down to bottom when stored since it is powder based thus tend to clog your cartridge). Also the quality of the printouts though decent is not that good compared to the printouts using the original unrefilled cartridge.

Also theres a limit to how many times you can refill a single catridge as it wears out.
