How long after their INSTALL BY Dates can one reasonably expect to be able to use HP ink cartridges?

We have a number of HP

14 c5011dn and c5010dn ink cartridges for use with our HP OfficeJet

d145. These cartridges have ';Install-By dates'; of June 2005 and May

2005. For how long can we reasonably expect these cartridges to be

useable given that they are now out-of-warranty and a year past the

Call up HP and ask them. I'm sure they will be able to help you.

You can't. Those cartridges have a use by because they also have a chip that will expire on that date. IE. stop working. Cheeky really.
OK, let's get practical here! Take the cartridges out of the box. Look at them in some strong light and give 'em a shake. It's still ink in there, folks. Is it dried up? No? Liquid? OK then, good put them in the copier and start em up. You have nothing to lose. As long as they are the right cartridges for that printer, I'm betting they will work just fine. Let me know how it turns out!
